Who Invented Milk Soup?

Published in Food History 1 min read

While the exact individual inventor of milk soup is unknown, the commonly told story attributes its origin to an accidental event during a battle in June 1529.

According to the account, two hungry armies encountered each other on a battlefield now known as the Milchsuppestein, which translates to "milk soup pasture." The broth was created by accident when the armies met. Thus, it's more accurate to say that milk soup originated from a confluence of circumstance rather than the deliberate invention of a single person.
