How do you apply format painter to multiple shapes?

Published in Formatting Shapes 1 min read

You can apply the format painter to multiple shapes most easily by grouping the shapes together and then using the format painter.

Here's how:

  1. Select the shape with the desired formatting: Click on the shape whose formatting you want to copy.
  2. Click the Format Painter: Locate the Format Painter button (usually represented by a paintbrush icon) on the ribbon (often in the Home tab).
  3. Group the Shapes: Select all the shapes you wish to apply the formatting to. Right-click on the selected shapes and choose "Group" from the context menu. This creates a single grouped object.
  4. Apply the Formatting: Click on the newly grouped shape. The formatting from your source shape will now be applied to all shapes within the group.
  5. Ungroup (Optional): If you no longer want the shapes grouped, right-click on the group and select "Ungroup."

This method applies the formatting to each shape within the group simultaneously.
