How to Pressure Wash a Concrete Garage Floor

Published in Garage Floor Cleaning 2 mins read

To pressure wash a concrete garage floor effectively, the key steps involve proper preparation and a systematic cleaning process starting from the back and working towards the exit.

Preparing Your Garage Floor for Pressure Washing

Before you begin pressure washing, it's crucial to prepare the area. This involves removing any items from the garage floor that you don't want to get wet or damaged. Once clear, you must start with a thorough sweeping to remove loose debris. This prevents smaller items like pebbles, leaves, or dirt from being blasted around by the pressure washer, which could potentially cause damage or clog the machine.

The Pressure Washing Process

Once the floor is swept clean of loose debris, you can begin the pressure washing itself. A systematic approach ensures that you clean the entire floor and effectively remove grime and water from the space.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Begin using your power washer at the back of your garage (closest to the house). This starting point allows you to work your way out of the garage.
  2. Move forward toward the door as you clean. Work in manageable sections, overlapping slightly to ensure full coverage.
  3. Spray directly onto the garage floor and out toward the door. Aiming the spray outward helps push the dirt and water away from the interior of your home and out of the garage.
  4. Allow the water and debris to wash outward and away from your home. The force of the water, combined with the sloped nature of most garage floors and the outward spraying direction, will naturally move the loosened grime and dirty water towards the garage door opening.

By starting from the back and working towards the door while directing the spray outwards, you effectively clean the floor and channel the water and debris out of the garage, leaving a clean surface behind.
