What Do Spinach Sprouts Look Like?

Published in Gardening 1 min read

Spinach sprouts are identifiable by their initial two leaves, which resemble small, fat hearts positioned on either side of the stem.

These first leaves, also called cotyledons, are the seedling's food source until the true leaves develop. Spinach seedlings also develop a taproot, which should be handled carefully during transplanting to avoid damage.
