Another name for gastric reflux is gastroesophageal reflux (GER).
Gastric reflux, a common condition, occurs when stomach acid flows back up into the esophagus. This backflow can irritate the lining of the esophagus and cause a burning sensation in the chest, commonly known as heartburn. The more technical and complete term for this condition is gastroesophageal reflux. While "acid reflux" is also a common synonym, gastroesophageal reflux is often preferred in medical contexts.
Therefore, the terms are largely interchangeable in everyday conversation, but "gastroesophageal reflux" is the more precise medical term.
