Published in Genetic Skin Disorder 1 min read

EV disease refers to Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis (EV), a rare genetic skin disorder.

Understanding Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis

Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis (EV) is a condition characterized by:

  • Rarity: It is not a common disease.
  • Genetic Origin: It's inherited as an autosomal recessive trait, meaning both parents must carry the gene for a child to be affected.
  • Skin Manifestations: It causes chronic eruptions of brownish plaques on the skin. According to the reference, this chronic eruption of brownish plaques is the main visible characteristic of the disease.
  • Acquired Form: A similar condition, known as acquired epidermodysplasia verruciformis, can develop in individuals with weakened immune systems. This version isn't inherited but arises due to impaired immunity.
