Yemen, officially the Republic of Yemen, is a country located in Western Asia, at the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula. It borders Saudi Arabia to the north, the Red Sea to the west, the Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea to the south, and Oman to the east. Its territory includes more than 200 islands, including Socotra, which lies about 350 kilometres (220 mi) south of the mainland.
