You can create a rectangle in GIMP using the Rectangle Select Tool and then filling the selection. Here's how:

Select the Rectangle Select Tool: Find the Rectangle Select Tool in the Toolbox. It usually looks like a rectangle with a dotted outline.

Create the Selection: Click and drag on your image to create a rectangular selection. The size and proportions of the rectangle are determined by how you drag.

Fill the Selection:
- Choose a color: Select the foreground or background color you want to use for your rectangle.
- Use the Bucket Fill Tool: Select the Bucket Fill Tool from the Toolbox. Make sure the "Fill whole selection" option is checked.
