To resize a crop in GIMP, adjust the crop area's boundaries after you've initially defined it. Here's how:
- Select the Crop Tool: Ensure you have the Crop Tool selected from the toolbox (usually represented by a blade icon).
- Define the Initial Crop Area: Click and drag on the image to define the area you want to crop. A highlighted rectangle will appear.
- Resize the Crop Area: Move your mouse cursor close to the edges or corners of the highlighted crop rectangle. The cursor will change to a resize arrow (often a double-headed arrow). Click and drag to resize the crop area. You can resize the width, height, or both simultaneously by dragging the corners.
- Move the Crop Area: If you need to reposition the entire crop area without changing its size, click inside the highlighted rectangle and drag it to the desired location.
- Finalize the Crop: Once you're satisfied with the size and position of the crop area, press the Enter key or double-click inside the crop rectangle to apply the crop. You can also click the Crop button in the Tool Options dock.
Keep in mind that resizing the crop area will only change the dimensions of the cropped region; it will not change the resolution or pixel density of the final image.
