How do I add my husband's calendar to my Google Calendar?

Here's how you can add your husband's calendar to your Google Calendar:

  1. Open Google Calendar on your computer: Go to calendar.google.com in your web browser.

  2. Locate the "My calendars" section: On the left side of the screen, you should see a list of your calendars. If you don't see it, click the three horizontal lines (the "hamburger" menu) at the top left to expand the menu.

  3. Access Calendar Settings: Hover your mouse over the calendar you want to share (presumably your main calendar if you want him to see it), and click the three vertical dots (More options). Select "Settings and sharing". Alternatively, if your husband is sharing his calendar with you, skip to step 6 after he has completed sharing.

  4. Add Specific People: Scroll down to the "Share with specific people" section and click "Add people".

  5. Enter Your Husband's Email: Type your husband's email address (the one associated with his Google Calendar) into the provided field. Choose the appropriate permission level from the dropdown menu next to his email address. Options generally include:

    • See only free/busy (hide details): He can see when you have events, but not the details.
    • See all event details: He can see all the details of your events.
    • Make changes to events: He can edit your events and add new ones.
    • Make changes and manage sharing: He can edit events, add new ones, and share the calendar with other people. (Use this with caution)
  6. Send the Invitation: Click "Send." Your husband will receive an email invitation to access your calendar. Once he accepts, your calendar will appear in his Google Calendar under the "Other calendars" section.

If your husband is sharing his calendar with you:

  1. Ask your husband to follow steps 1-5 above, using your email address in step 5.
  2. You will receive an email invitation. Click the link in the email to add his calendar to your Google Calendar.
  3. His calendar will appear in the "Other calendars" section of your Google Calendar.

Important Considerations:

  • Privacy: Carefully consider the level of access you grant when sharing your calendar. Sharing "Make changes to events" gives him a lot of control.
  • Synchronization: Changes made to the calendar are generally reflected quickly (within a few minutes), but occasionally there might be a short delay.
  • Multiple Devices: Once added, the shared calendar will be visible on all devices where you are logged into your Google account and using Google Calendar.
