Easily add a co-teacher to your Google Classroom to share the responsibility of managing class activities, assignments, and communication with students.
Adding a teacher to your Google Classroom class allows another educator to co-manage the class with you. This is particularly useful for collaborative teaching, allowing both teachers to create assignments, grade student work, make announcements, and manage class settings. The process is straightforward and initiated by the primary teacher or an existing co-teacher.
Steps to Add a Co-Teacher
Here's how you can invite another teacher to join your Google Classroom class:
- Go to the Desired Class: Open Google Classroom and navigate to the specific class you wish to add a co-teacher to.
- Navigate to the People Tab: At the top of the class stream, click on the "People" tab. This section lists all the teachers and students currently in the class.
- Invite a Teacher: In the "Teachers" section, look for and click the "Invite teacher" icon (which typically looks like a person with a plus sign).
- Enter Email and Send Invitation: A window will pop up. Enter the email address of the teacher you want to invite. As you type, Google may suggest contacts. Select the correct teacher and click the "Invite" button.
- Teacher Accepts Invitation: The invited teacher will receive an email notification with a link to join the class. They must open this email and click the "Join" button to accept the invitation.
Once the invited teacher accepts their invitation, they will appear in the 'Teachers' list for the class. As shown in various guides on this process, you can then see that there are now multiple teachers listed – for example, "two teachers in the class" if you only had one before.
Both the primary teacher and any invited co-teachers have similar permissions within the class, allowing for effective collaboration.
