How do I hide a Google Group?

Published in Google Groups 2 mins read

To hide a Google Group, you need to adjust its visibility settings. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to Google Groups: Access Google Groups with your Google account.

  2. Click the name of the group: Select the group you want to hide from the group list.

  3. On the left, click Group settings: This will take you to the group's configuration page.

  4. Under "Who can see group," select an option: This setting controls who can find and view the group. Choose the appropriate privacy level:

    • Public: Anyone on the internet can find the group, see its members, and view its content (unless other restrictions are in place). This is not hiding the group.
    • Private: Only members of the group can find it, see the member list, and access the group's content. This effectively hides the group from non-members. To hide it more thoroughly, limit who can join the group in other settings.

By selecting "Private," you're effectively hiding the Google Group from anyone who isn't a member. Remember to configure other settings like "Who can join" for comprehensive privacy.
