How to Change Your Name in Google Meet

Published in Google Meet Settings 1 min read

To change the name that appears next to your video feed during a Google Meet call, you need to update the name associated with your Google account. This name is what Google Meet uses by default to identify participants.

Based on information from a source dated 27-Jun-2024 (More items...), here are the steps to update your display name:

  1. Choose "Personal Info" from a menu.
  2. Under the "Personal Info" section, tap on "Name" within the Basic Info category.
  3. You can insert your desired name into the designated field.

Once you save the changes, your updated name should be reflected in future Google Meet sessions you join using that account.

Important Note: This process changes your personal display name within Google Meet. It does not rename the meeting session itself. The 'name' or 'title' of a Google Meet session is typically derived from the associated Google Calendar event title or is simply referred to by its meeting code or link if not scheduled.
