How do I turn off screen mirroring on Google Meet?

Published in Google Meet Video Settings 2 mins read

You can turn off the mirroring effect of your own video feed in Google Meet's settings. This setting controls how you see yourself during the meeting, not how others see you or how screen sharing works.

Steps to Unmirror Your Video in Google Meet

To stop your video from appearing mirrored to you:

  1. During your Google Meet session, locate the bottom toolbar.
  2. Find the Stop video button.
  3. Click the caret (^) icon right next to the Stop video button.
  4. From the menu that appears, select Video Settings.
  5. In the settings window that opens, look at the left sidebar and click on Video.
  6. Under the Camera settings, you will see an option labeled Mirror my video.
  7. Uncheck the box next to "Mirror my video".

This action will immediately change how your camera feed appears to you on your screen, making it look like you're looking at a reflection (which is how others in the meeting see you by default).

Reference Information (10-Sept-2024): In the bottom toolbar, click the caret ^ icon next to Stop Video and select Video Settings. In the left sidebar, go to Video. In the Camera setting, uncheck Mirror my video.
