Downloading a specific Google Photos memory is not directly possible. Google Photos "Memories" are curated collections of photos and videos Google creates automatically. You can, however, download the individual photos and videos that make up a "Memory." Here's how:
-
Open Google Photos: Access Google Photos on your computer by going to photos.google.com.
-
Find the "Memory" you want: Navigate to the "Memories" section. This is usually found at the top of the Google Photos interface.
-
Open the Memory: Click on the Memory you're interested in.
-
Select Photos: Within the Memory, identify the specific photos and videos you want to download. You can select multiple items by clicking the checkmark icon that appears in the upper left corner of each photo/video when you hover over it.
-
Download: Once you've selected all the desired items, click the three-dot menu icon (usually found in the top right corner) and choose "Download."
-
Files: The selected photos and videos will be downloaded as a ZIP file to your computer. Extract the ZIP file to access the individual files.
Alternative Method: Downloading All Photos and Videos
If you want to download everything from your Google Photos library, including all photos used in Memories, you can use Google Takeout.
- Go to Google Takeout.
- Deselect all products except "Google Photos."
- Choose whether you want to download "All photo albums included" or select specific albums. Note that "Memories" are not explicitly listed as downloadable albums. All photos that comprised the memory will be included if you select "All photo albums included" or the specific albums they're stored in.
- Select your desired file type (.zip or .tgz), archive size, and delivery method.
- Click "Create export."
Important Considerations:
- Storage: Ensure you have enough storage space on your computer before downloading large collections of photos and videos.
- File Size: Large downloads can take a considerable amount of time, depending on your internet connection speed.
- Organization: The downloaded files might not retain the exact organization or categorization as seen in Google Photos.
- Original Quality: Google Takeout gives you the option to download the photos and videos in their original quality.
