How Do I Import a Slide Theme Into Google Slides?

Published in Google Slides Themes 2 mins read

Importing a slide theme into Google Slides is a straightforward process that allows you to apply a consistent design from an existing presentation to your current one.

To import a theme, you typically work within the Themes panel in Google Slides. This panel gives you options to select pre-made themes or bring in one you've used before from another file.

Here's how to import a theme based on the available information:

  1. Open the Themes Panel: While working on your Google Slides presentation, locate and open the Themes panel. This panel usually appears on the side of your screen.
  2. Initiate the Import: In the Themes panel, click Import theme. This action will open a new window dedicated to finding the theme you want.
  3. Choose Your Source: Within the new window, you have options for where to find the theme:
    • Browse Your Presentations: You can look through your existing Google Slides presentations stored in Google Drive.
    • Upload a PowerPoint: Go to the Upload tab to upload a PowerPoint file (.pptx) from your computer. Google Slides can extract the theme from a PowerPoint file.
  4. Select the Presentation: Once you've located the presentation that contains the desired theme (either a Google Slides file from your Drive or an uploaded PowerPoint), click on it to select it.
  5. Confirm and Apply: After selecting the presentation, click Select. Google Slides will then import the theme from the chosen file and make it available to apply to your current presentation.

By following these steps, you can easily leverage themes from your past projects or even transform a PowerPoint design into a Google Slides theme, ensuring a unified look across your presentations.
