How to Crop Videos in Google Slides?

Published in Google Slides 2 mins read

You can crop videos directly within Google Slides using the "Format options" pane. Here's how:

  1. Select the Video: Click on the video you want to crop in your Google Slides presentation.

  2. Open Format Options: Right-click on the video and select "Format options" from the menu. This will open the "Format options" pane on the right side of your screen. Alternatively, with the video selected, click "Format" in the top menu bar, then choose "Format options."

  3. Access Size & Position: In the "Format options" pane, click the "Size & position" tab (it usually looks like a little chart icon).

  4. Locate the Crop Section: Within the "Size & position" tab, find the "Crop" section.

  5. Crop the Video: Drag the handles (the small black squares) on the corners or edges of the video to crop it to your desired dimensions. You'll see a grayed-out area indicating what will be cropped away.

  6. Preview (Optional): Before applying the crop, you can play the slide (or a section of it) to preview the cropped video by clicking "Play". This helps you ensure you've cropped correctly.

  7. Apply the Crop: Once you are satisfied with the cropping, the changes are applied automatically. Clicking outside the video frame also applies the crop. The video will now display only the selected portion within your slide.

Keep in mind that cropping a video in Google Slides doesn't permanently alter the original video file. It only affects how the video is displayed within your presentation.
