Zeus impregnated Danaë with a golden shower.
Danaë was imprisoned by her father, King Acrisius of Argos, because an oracle foretold that her son would kill him. To prevent this, Acrisius locked Danaë away in a tower or a bronze chamber. However, Zeus desired Danaë. Being unable to reach her physically, he transformed himself into a shower of gold and entered her chamber. As a result of this union, Danaë conceived and later gave birth to Perseus, the hero famous for slaying Medusa.
The story highlights Zeus's ability to transform and his determination to have his way, regardless of the obstacles. It also serves as the origin story for Perseus, a major figure in Greek mythology.
