Who is Paris' Lover?

Published in Greek Mythology 1 min read

Paris's lover, most famously, is Helen of Troy. However, his selection of Aphrodite as the most beautiful goddess also implies a connection, though of a different nature.

Paris's story revolves around the Judgement of Paris, where he was tasked with choosing the fairest goddess between Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. He chose Aphrodite, who promised him the most beautiful woman in the world, Helen.

  • Helen was already married to King Menelaus of Sparta.
  • Aphrodite's involvement directly led to Paris abducting (or eloping with, depending on the source) Helen, which triggered the Trojan War.

Therefore, while Helen is the most well-known romantic interest and lover of Paris, Aphrodite played a crucial role in bringing them together, arguably making her an influential figure in their relationship.
