Making a salt water hair rinse is simple! You can easily create your own at home using just two ingredients. Celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson recommends the following recipe:
-
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1 tablespoon of sea salt
-
Instructions:
- Combine warm water and sea salt in a container.
- Mix until the salt is fully dissolved.
- Use as a final rinse after shampooing and conditioning your hair.
However, be aware that salt can be drying. According to Ted Gibson, salt "can be very, very drying on the hair and rough up the cuticle". If you have thick, dry, or coarse hair, you may want to add a small amount of oil (such as coconut oil or argan oil) to the mixture to counteract the drying effect. This will help to moisturize your hair while still providing the texture and volume that salt water rinses are known for.
