Clip-in hair strands are attached to your natural hair using small clips that are sewn onto the weft of the extension. Here's how to use them effectively, based on a video demonstration:
Preparing Your Hair
- Section Your Hair: Begin by creating a clean, horizontal part where you want to place the first clip-in weft.
- Backcomb (Optional): Some people find that lightly backcombing the roots where the clips will attach provides better grip. This is especially useful for fine or slippery hair.
Applying Clip-In Wefts
Single Clip Wefts
- Positioning: Grab a small section of your natural hair near the roots.
- Securing: Align the one-clip weft as close to the roots as possible and firmly press the clips into your hair to secure it, as demonstrated in the video.
- Repeat: Continue adding one-clip wefts around your head as desired to increase volume, highlight, or add color.
Multiple Clip Wefts
- Open Clips: Make sure all the clips on the weft are open.
- Align Weft: Position the weft along your part line, as close to the scalp as is comfortable.
- Close Clips: Secure the weft by snapping each clip shut, one at a time, being careful to feel that they are catching onto your natural hair.
- Continue: Repeat this process by placing other wefts around the head.
Blending and Styling
- Placement: Vary the placement of the wefts to achieve a natural blend with your own hair.
- Styling: Once all the extensions are in, blend them into your natural hair by brushing or styling them together.
- Hair Products: Use products such as hairspray or smoothing cream if you desire.
Important Notes
- Comfort: Clip-ins should feel secure but not painful or tight.
- Practice: It takes some practice to get comfortable with applying extensions, but with time, it becomes much faster and easier.
- Removal: Always open all clips and gently remove the wefts to avoid damage to your natural hair.
