How Do You Use Steam Curlers?

Published in Hair styling 2 mins read

Steam curlers are used by wrapping sections of hair around the rollers and securing them, using the steam to set the curl. Here's a general guide based on common steam curler usage:

  1. Section Your Hair: Divide your hair into manageable sections. The size of each section will determine the size of the curl. Smaller sections create tighter curls, while larger sections create looser waves.

  2. Wrap the Hair: Take a section of hair and hold a roller at the top of the section. Wrap the hair around the roller, working your way down to the ends.

  3. Secure the Roller: Secure the roller with a clip or pin.

  4. Repeat: Continue wrapping and securing rollers until all sections of your hair are done.

  5. Steam Set (Check your specific steamer's instructions for precise directions and timing): After all rollers are in place, use your steam hairsetter. This normally involves placing the rollers briefly over the steam spout of the device to heat the rollers and help set the hair into the desired curl. Each roller is treated this way individually.

  6. Cool Down: Allow the rollers to cool completely. This is crucial for the curls to set properly.

  7. Unclip and Style: Once the rollers are cool, carefully unclip and remove them. Gently separate and style your curls as desired. Use hairspray for extra hold.
