Is Pepsi halal or haram?

Published in Halal Food 1 min read

Pepsi is generally considered halal (permissible) according to Islamic law.

Historically, a fatwa (religious ruling) issued in 1951 by mufti Hasanayn al-Makhluf in Egypt declared both Coca-Cola and Pepsi permissible for Muslims. While specific ingredients and manufacturing processes can sometimes be questioned, the overwhelming consensus is that Pepsi does not contain any haram (forbidden) ingredients such as pork products or alcohol in quantities that would render it impermissible.

However, individual interpretations and concerns about specific ingredients or production methods might lead some Muslims to avoid Pepsi. For the majority, though, it is considered an acceptable beverage within Islamic dietary guidelines.

In summary, while personal interpretations may vary, Pepsi is generally considered halal by most Islamic authorities and consumers.
