How to Scrub Hands?

Published in Hand Hygiene 1 min read

To effectively scrub your hands, follow these steps for a thorough cleaning process:

  • Wet a non-abrasive sponge and squeeze to create a lather.

  • Wash each finger, hand, and arm up to two inches above the elbows.

  • Use the non-abrasive sponge for a total scrub time of three minutes. This duration ensures proper removal of germs and debris.

  • Utilize the brush side of the sponge only on nails and cuticles or areas with visible soil. This prevents skin irritation while effectively cleaning these areas.

  • Continue hand preparation from the wrist to 2 inches above the elbow after addressing the fingers, hands, and nails.

Essentially, scrubbing your hands involves using a wet, soapy sponge to thoroughly clean your hands, fingers, and forearms for a minimum of three minutes, paying special attention to nails and areas with visible dirt.
