Who killed Voldemort?

Harry Potter killed Voldemort.

In the climactic final battle of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter defeats Lord Voldemort, bringing an end to the Dark Lord's reign of terror. This victory wasn't simply about overpowering Voldemort with brute force; it was a culmination of several key factors:

  • The Elder Wand's Allegiance: Voldemort, believing he had mastered the Elder Wand by killing Severus Snape (whom he mistakenly believed to be its previous owner), was unaware that the wand's true allegiance was to Harry, who had disarmed Draco Malfoy, who in turn disarmed Dumbledore.
  • Lily Potter's Protection: The sacrificial protection Lily Potter cast when she died to save Harry continued to live in Voldemort's blood, hindering his ability to kill Harry directly.
  • The Horcruxes: Harry and his friends meticulously destroyed Voldemort's Horcruxes, weakening his soul and making him mortal.
  • Harry's Willingness to Die: Harry's ultimate sacrifice in the Forbidden Forest, accepting his death, disarmed Voldemort of the protection of the Elder Wand.

In the end, Harry defeated Voldemort using a simple Expelliarmus spell (disarming spell). Because the Elder Wand would not kill its true master, the spell rebounded on Voldemort, killing him.
