How do you use nasal strips?

Published in Health & Wellness 2 mins read

To properly use a nasal strip, you stick it along the bridge of your nose, positioned just above the flare of your nostrils, typically right before going to bed. This helps to widen your nasal passages, making it easier to breathe through your nose.

Here's a more detailed guide:

  1. Wash and Dry Your Nose: Before applying the nasal strip, thoroughly wash and dry your nose to remove any oils or lotions that may prevent the strip from adhering properly.

  2. Remove the Strip from Packaging: Carefully remove the nasal strip from its packaging.

  3. Position the Strip: Locate the flexible tabs on the nasal strip. Center the strip across the bridge of your nose, ensuring the adhesive portion sits just above the flare of each nostril. The positioning is crucial for optimal effectiveness.

  4. Press and Hold: Press down on the strip, ensuring it adheres firmly to your nose. Press and hold for about 30 seconds to ensure good contact.

  5. Breathing Easier: Once applied, you should notice a slight pulling sensation, which indicates that the nasal passages are being widened. You should now find it easier to breathe through your nose.

  6. Removal: In the morning, gently wash your face with warm water, then slowly peel the nasal strip from your nose. Pull upwards from each side to minimize skin irritation. Avoid ripping it off quickly.

Nasal strips are primarily intended as breathing aids to use during sleep, but can be used at other times as well.
