The heart has four chambers: the right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle, and left ventricle. The atria are the two upper chambers of the heart, while the ventricles are the two lower chambers. Blood enters the heart through the atria and is pumped out by the ventricles.
- Right Atrium: Receives oxygen-poor blood from the body.
- Left Atrium: Receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs.
- Right Ventricle: Pumps oxygen-poor blood to the lungs.
- Left Ventricle: Pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body.
Each chamber has a valve that prevents blood from flowing back into the previous chamber. These valves ensure that blood flows in one direction through the heart.
