How Do You Use Click Heat Packs?

Published in Heat Packs 3 mins read

To use a click heat pack, bend the small metal disc inside, which will trigger a rapid crystallization and heat the pack to around 130 degrees Fahrenheit within seconds. After it cools and hardens, you can recharge it by boiling it.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Activate the Heat Pack: Locate the small metal disc inside the gel pack.
  2. Bend the Disc: Firmly bend the metal disc back and forth. You should hear a clicking sound. This initiates a chain reaction that causes the liquid to crystallize and release heat.
  3. Knead the Pack: Once activated, the pack will begin to solidify. Knead it gently to distribute the heat evenly. It will heat up very quickly.
  4. Apply as Needed: Apply the heat pack to the desired area for soothing warmth. Be cautious, as the initial temperature can be quite high. Use a cloth barrier if needed.

Recharging the Click Heat Pack:

Once the heat pack has cooled and solidified, you can recharge it to its liquid state for reuse.

  1. Prepare Boiling Water: Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Place the Pack in Water: Wrap the solidified heat pack in a cloth to prevent it from sticking to the pot and potentially melting. Carefully place the wrapped pack in the boiling water.
  3. Boil Until Clear: Continue boiling the pack until all the crystals have dissolved and the liquid inside is completely clear again. This usually takes about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Remove and Cool: Carefully remove the pack from the boiling water using tongs. Place it on a heat-resistant surface to cool completely. Make sure the cloth is still underneath it, and allow it to cool. Be careful, as the pack will be very hot.
  5. Store for Future Use: Once cooled, the heat pack is ready to be used again. Store it in its liquid state until needed.

Important Notes:

  • Always use caution when handling hot items to avoid burns.
  • Make sure to wrap the pack in a cloth when boiling to prevent damage to the pack or the pot.
  • If the pack doesn't fully return to its liquid state after boiling, continue boiling for a few more minutes.
  • Avoid bending the metal disc while the pack is hot and in a solidified state, as this could damage it.
