How do you make lilac oil from flowers?

Published in Herbal Remedies 2 mins read

Making lilac oil from flowers involves infusing the blossoms with a carrier oil. Here's a simple method to create your own lilac-infused oil:

Steps for Making Lilac Oil

  1. Gather Your Materials: You'll need a clean glass jar or bottle, fresh lilac flowers, and a carrier oil such as organic sunflower oil.
  2. Prepare the Lilac Flowers: Gently pinch off the lilac flower buds from the stems. Avoid using any leaves or stems.
  3. Fill the Jar: Fill the glass jar or bottle at least halfway with the lilac flower buds. Packing them loosely is fine.
  4. Add the Carrier Oil: Pour the sunflower oil (or your chosen carrier oil) into the jar, completely covering the lilac flowers. Fill the jar to the top, leaving minimal air space.
  5. Infuse the Oil: Seal the jar tightly and place it in a cool, dark place for about 2 weeks. This allows the lilac's fragrance and properties to infuse into the oil.
  6. Strain the Oil: After 2 weeks, strain the oil through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the lilac flower buds.
  7. Return to Jar: Pour the infused lilac oil back into a clean jar or bottle.
  8. Storage: Store the lilac oil in a cool, dark place to prolong its shelf life.

Note: The resulting oil will have a delicate lilac scent. It can be used for massage, aromatherapy, or as a moisturizing body oil.
