Lord Vishnu is often associated with sleeping, particularly during the period of Devshayani Ekadashi.
Lord Vishnu's Symbolic Sleep
Ashadi Ekadashi, also known as Devshayani Ekadashi, marks the beginning of a four-month period during which Lord Vishnu is said to be in a state of slumber or deep meditation. This period is significant in Hinduism. Some interpret this as a time when Lord Vishnu rests from his duties, while others see it as a period of deep meditation for rejuvenation.
During this time, auspicious ceremonies, particularly weddings, are often avoided. This four-month period ends on Prabodhini Ekadashi, when Lord Vishnu is said to awaken.
Therefore, while other deities may be associated with rest or meditation, Lord Vishnu is the one most prominently linked with a symbolic period of sleep.
