Published in Hindu Mythology 1 min read

According to Hinduism, the first woman on Earth was Shatarupa.

Shatarupa (Sanskrit: शतरूपा, romanized: Śatarūpā, lit. 'she of a hundred forms') is considered to be the daughter of the creator deity, Brahma. The Brahma Purana states that Brahma created Shatarupa, and she subsequently married Manu, who is regarded as the first man. Their descendants are known as manushya, which is the Sanskrit term used for mankind. Therefore, in Hindu cosmology, Shatarupa holds the esteemed position of being the first woman and a pivotal figure in the lineage of humanity.
