Who Wore a Wig First?

Published in History of Fashion 1 min read

The first documented wearers of wigs were Ancient Egyptians around 3400 BC.

While baldness was not considered desirable, thick hair was viewed as a status symbol. Therefore, both men and women in positions of power and influence, such as politicians, pharaohs, and queens, adopted wigs and hair extensions to enhance their appearance and signify their social standing.
