What is epiglottis?

Published in Human Anatomy 1 min read

The epiglottis is a crucial anatomical structure in the throat. It is a flap of cartilage located in the throat behind the tongue and in front of the larynx.

Function of the Epiglottis

  • Normally, the epiglottis stands upright.
  • This upright position allows air to pass freely into the larynx and, subsequently, into the lungs for breathing.
