What is on a girl's chest?

Published in Human Anatomy 1 min read

A girl's chest contains skin, muscle, and typically developing breast tissue composed of lobes, lobules, and nipples.

During puberty, individuals assigned female at birth usually experience the development of breast tissue. This tissue is structured with:

  • Lobes: Each breast contains 15 to 20 lobes arranged around the nipple, like spokes on a wheel.
  • Lobules: Within these lobes are smaller structures called lobules.

While the amount of breast tissue varies among individuals, these structures are the fundamental components present on a girl's chest. Everyone is born with some breast tissue and those assigned female at birth typically develop more breast tissue during puberty.
