How does milk come in girls?

Published in Human Biology 1 min read

Milk production in girls (and women) is a biological process that occurs after childbirth or sometimes due to hormonal imbalances. The breasts are responsible for producing and delivering milk.

The Process of Milk Production

Here’s how milk is produced and released:

  • Milk Production: The breasts create milk from water and nutrients extracted from the bloodstream.
  • Storage: The produced milk is then stored within lobules (small, sac-like structures) in the breast.
  • Let-Down Reflex: When the hormone oxytocin is released, it signals tiny muscles around the lobules to contract.
  • Milk Ejection: This contraction pushes the milk through the ducts, leading to the nipple. This process is known as the let-down reflex or milk-ejection reflex.

Therefore, milk production is a complex interplay of hormones, blood supply, and specialized structures within the breast tissue.
