- Absorption: The skin can absorb certain substances, such as medications, but also chemicals and toxins. This is why it's important to use sunscreen and avoid prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals.
- Excretion: The skin excretes waste products, such as sweat, which contains salt, urea, and other metabolic byproducts.
- Vitamin D Synthesis: The skin produces vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. This vitamin is essential for bone health and immunity.
- Aesthetic Function: The skin contributes to our appearance and self-esteem. It helps us express ourselves through fashion, body art, and other forms of self-expression.
