What are the two types of supporting tissue in the body?

The two main types of supporting tissue in the body are connective tissue and epithelial tissue.

Connective Tissue

Connective tissue is responsible for supporting, connecting, and separating different tissues and organs in the body. It is characterized by an extracellular matrix consisting of protein fibers (collagen and elastin) and ground substance.

Epithelial Tissue

While not solely for support like connective tissue, its structure and the basement membrane provide support for itself and underlying tissues.
