What is male breast milk called?

Published in Human Biology 1 min read

Male breast milk is generally referred to as breast milk or milk, just like female breast milk.

While the phenomenon of lactation in males is rare and usually associated with specific medical conditions, the fluid produced is functionally and structurally similar to female breast milk. The scientific term for milk production unrelated to childbirth is galactorrhea, and this term applies to both males and females. Male lactation can be induced in certain circumstances, such as in transgender women undergoing hormone therapy, where the produced milk is simply referred to as breast milk.

Therefore, there isn't a special or distinct name for milk produced by males. The term "breast milk" sufficiently encompasses the fluid produced, regardless of the producer's sex.
