The normal color of blood is red. This is due to the presence of hemoglobin, a protein found in red blood cells that binds to oxygen. When oxygen is attached to hemoglobin, it gives blood its bright red color.
Note: While it's often said that deoxygenated blood is blue, this is actually a misconception. Deoxygenated blood is a darker shade of red. It's the way light reflects from veins that gives the illusion of blue.
