According to a study conducted at the orthodontic department of the University of Edinburgh's dental school, the average tongue length is slightly different between genders. The study, reported on September 23, 2019, found the following:
- Men: Average tongue length of 3.3 inches (8.5 centimeters).
- Women: Average tongue length of 3.1 inches (7.9 centimeters).
Therefore, based on this data, men generally have longer tongues.
