Which is the longest cell?

Published in Human Biology 1 min read

The longest cell in the human body is the nerve cell, also known as a neuron. Some neurons can stretch nearly 5 feet down the spinal cord! These cells are responsible for transmitting signals throughout the body, enabling communication between the brain and other organs.

For example, a neuron that transmits signals from the base of the spine to the big toe could be exceptionally long.
