To clean the inside of a Safety First humidifier, focus on regularly cleaning the water basin.
Here's how to do it:
-
Cleaning the Humidifier Basin (in the Base):
- Regular Cleaning: Use a soft cloth to wipe down the water basin in the base of the humidifier frequently. This helps prevent mineral buildup and bacterial growth.
- Tackling Scale Buildup: If you notice scale (mineral deposits) on the inside of the basin, use white vinegar.
- Pour white vinegar into the basin.
- Let it sit for 2-5 minutes to dissolve the scale.
- Use a dedicated bottle brush or sponge to scrub away the loosened scale.
- Cleaning the Security Switch: If scale is covering the security switch (often located in the basin), pour white vinegar directly onto the scale. Allow it to sit for 2-5 minutes before scrubbing it clean with a bottle brush or sponge. This switch is important for the humidifier's safe operation.
Important Notes:
- Always unplug the humidifier before cleaning.
- Rinse all parts thoroughly with clean water after cleaning with vinegar and before reassembling and using the humidifier.
- Refer to your Safety First humidifier's instruction manual for any specific cleaning recommendations or precautions.
