To store files in iCloud, you need to enable iCloud Drive and its features on your Mac. Here’s how you do it:

Steps to Enable iCloud Drive for File Storage

Follow these steps to set up iCloud Drive and store your files:

  1. Open System Settings: From your Mac, click on the Apple menu () and select System Settings.
  2. Access Apple Account: Click on Apple Account. If you're using macOS Sonoma or an earlier version, click on Apple ID.
  3. Go to iCloud: Choose iCloud from the options available.
  4. Select iCloud Drive: Look for the section Saved to iCloud and then click on Drive.
  5. Enable Sync this Mac: Under iCloud Drive, make sure the toggle for Sync this Mac is turned on. This ensures your files are synced to iCloud.
  6. Turn on Desktop & Documents Folders: Enable Desktop & Documents Folders to automatically store files in these locations on iCloud. This keeps your Desktop and Documents folders synchronized across all your devices.
  7. Click Done: Once the desired options are enabled, click Done to save your changes.

Once you've completed these steps, your files in the Desktop and Documents folders, along with any other data you choose to store on iCloud Drive, will be automatically stored and synchronized across all devices where you’re logged into the same Apple ID.
