How Do I Delete Photos from iCloud Data?

Published in iCloud Photos 2 mins read

To delete photos from your iCloud data, follow these steps through the iCloud website or using the "Recently Deleted" album.

  1. Access Photos on iCloud.com: Go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID. Then, click on the "Photos" app.

  2. Select Photos for Deletion: Within the Photos app, select the photos or videos you want to delete. You can select multiple items.

  3. Initiate Deletion: Click the delete icon (usually a trash can) to move the selected photos or videos to the "Recently Deleted" album.

  4. Permanently Delete (Optional but Recommended):

    • Go to the "Recently Deleted" album within the Photos app on iCloud.com.
    • Select the photos or videos you want to permanently delete.
    • Click "Delete" to permanently remove them from iCloud. If you don't manually delete from "Recently Deleted", the photos will be automatically deleted after 30 days.

Important Considerations:

  • Synchronization: Deleting photos from iCloud will synchronize the deletion across all devices signed in with the same Apple ID and iCloud Photos enabled.
  • Recently Deleted Album: Photos and videos in the "Recently Deleted" album are recoverable for 30 days.
  • Permanent Deletion: Once you permanently delete photos from the "Recently Deleted" album, they cannot be recovered. Make sure you have backups if needed.
  • Deleting Directly from Devices: You can also delete photos directly from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, as long as iCloud Photos is enabled. The changes will sync to iCloud and your other devices.

By following these steps, you can effectively manage and delete photos stored in your iCloud data.
