How Do I Add a Number to iCloud?

Published in iCloud Security 1 min read

You can add a phone number to your iCloud account as a trusted phone number, enhancing security features. This allows iCloud to send verification codes to this number for account recovery or two-factor authentication.

Adding a Trusted Phone Number to iCloud

The process differs slightly depending on your device:

On iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Select Password & Security.
  4. Next to Trusted Phone Number, tap Edit.
  5. Add your phone number.

On a Mac computer:

  1. Go to the Apple menu ().
  2. Choose System Settings (or System Preferences).
  3. Click your name (or Apple ID).
  4. Click Password & Security.
  5. Add or remove a trusted phone number.

Adding a trusted phone number improves the security of your iCloud account. If you forget your password or need to verify your identity, you'll receive verification codes on this number to regain access to your account. Remember to choose a number you have regular access to.
