Published in Image Editing 2 mins read

You can crop an image in Photoshop using the Crop Tool, which you can find in the Tools Palette. To use it, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Crop Tool: Click on the Crop Tool icon in the Tools Palette.
  2. Frame your photo: Drag the Crop Tool handles to frame the area you want to keep. You can use the keyboard shortcuts Shift to maintain the aspect ratio, Alt to constrain proportions, or Ctrl to switch between the different options.
  3. Crop the image: Press Enter or click the check mark in the options bar to apply the crop.

You can also use the Content-Aware Fill feature while cropping to automatically fill in the cropped area with similar content from the surrounding image. To do this, select the Content-Aware option in the Options bar while using the Crop Tool.

To save your cropped image:

  1. Choose File > Save As.
  2. Name your new image file and choose the desired file format.
  3. Select JPEG High in the Preset option in the Save For Web preview box to save it as a high-quality image.

Additional tips:

  • You can use the Crop Tool to adjust the size and proportions of your image by entering specific dimensions in the options bar.
  • If you need to restore a cropped image, you can use the Image > Reveal All option or click on the document with the Crop Tool.
