Published in InDesign Color Management 1 min read

To check the color mode of your InDesign document, navigate to the Document Setup. Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Go to the File Menu: Click on "File" in the top menu bar of InDesign.
  2. Select Document Setup: Choose "Document Setup" from the dropdown menu.
  3. Locate the Color Mode: In the Document Setup dialog box, look for the "Color Mode" section. This section displays the current color mode of your document.

The color mode will be either CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) or RGB (Red, Green, Blue).

  • CMYK is typically used for print projects.
  • RGB is generally used for digital or web-based projects.

Understanding your document's color mode is crucial for ensuring accurate color reproduction in your final output, whether printed or displayed on a screen. Choose the appropriate color mode based on the intended use of your document.
