How do I remove column guides in InDesign?

Published in InDesign Guides 1 min read

To remove column guides in Adobe InDesign, ensure the guides are unlocked and then delete them via the View menu.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  1. Unlock Guides (If Locked): Before you can remove guides, make sure they are unlocked. If they are locked, you won't be able to select or delete them. To check this:

    • Go to View > Grids & Guides > Lock Guides. If "Lock Guides" is checked, click it to uncheck it and unlock the guides.
    • Also, ensure your layer containing guides is unlocked in the Layers panel (Window > Layers).
  2. Delete All Guides on the Spread:

    • Go to View > Grids & Guides > Delete All Guides on Spread. This will remove all guides on the currently active spread, including column guides.

That's it! All of your column guides (and any other guides) on the current spread should now be gone.
