What is the Drug of Choice for Pott's Disease?

Published in Infectious Disease Treatment 1 min read

The primary medications used to treat Pott's disease (tuberculosis of the spine) are isoniazid and rifampin, administered throughout the entire course of therapy.

Additional medications are included during the first two months of treatment, typically selected from first-line anti-tuberculosis drugs. These may include:

  • Pyrazinamide
  • Ethambutol
  • Streptomycin

The complete regimen and duration are determined by factors such as the severity of the disease, patient health, and drug sensitivities.
