How do I change saturation in Inkscape?

Published in Inkscape Color Adjustment 1 min read

To change saturation in Inkscape, you can use the HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) filter effects.

Here's how:

  1. Select the object(s) you want to adjust the saturation of.
  2. Go to Filters > Color > HSL Adjust. This opens the HSL Adjust dialog.
  3. In the HSL Adjust dialog, you'll find sliders for Hue, Saturation, and Lightness.
  4. Adjust the Saturation slider.
    • Moving the slider to the right increases saturation, making the colors more vibrant and intense.
    • Moving the slider to the left decreases saturation, making the colors more muted, eventually leading to grayscale when fully desaturated.
  5. Observe the changes on your selected object(s) in real-time.
  6. Once you're satisfied with the saturation level, close the HSL Adjust dialog. The effect is now applied.

By adjusting the saturation slider in the HSL Adjust filter, you can easily control the intensity of colors in your Inkscape project. Remember that adjusting hue and lightness can also affect the overall appearance.
